Kitchen Countertops: Quartz vs. Granite vs. Butcher Block

Gabe Torres March 8, 2026 1 min read

Countertops set the tone for the whole kitchen. The three most popular choices we install each have clear trade-offs in look, durability, and upkeep.

Quartz

Engineered quartz is durable, non-porous, and low maintenance. It resists stains and never needs sealing, which makes it a favorite for busy family kitchens.

Granite

Natural granite offers one-of-a-kind patterns and excellent heat resistance. It needs periodic sealing, but many homeowners love that no two slabs are identical.

Butcher block

Wood brings warmth and is easy to repair, but it requires regular oiling and care around water. It's a great accent on an island paired with a harder surface elsewhere.
